On Strike

Sometimes I think that all the bin men, all the street sweepers, all the toilet attendants and all the nice eastern European ladies that clean your offices should down tools for a week nationwide. The place would end up a pigsty in no time at all.

Not necessarily strike for better pay although that would be nice, but just to teach everyone a bit of respect for people doing shitty, tough, badly paid but ultimately dignified jobs.

Just a thought.

The place would end up a pigsty in no time at all.

  1. My mom works as a cleaner in a hospital. She is ridiculously overpaid.
Not all cleaning jobs are poorly paid like it is normally made out.

    1. Good for her. I always hesitate to say people are overpaid, [1] generally people don’t get paid more than they produce, at least not for long.

Sadly average cleaning wages are still very low, so for every well paid job there’s also a poorly paid one too.

[1] Sometimes I’m not so reticent of course, bankers and “managers” spring to mind. But then they have power which most normal employees don’t have. Its easy to digress.
