Brecht on X Factor

Rage Against the Machine have secured the Christmas Number One, narrowly beating X Factor winner Joe McElderry’s The Climb by 50,000 copies.

However, the fact remains that 450,000 copies of McElderry’s dirge were sold. Its things like this that make me despair of the General Public and forces me to read Brecht and think, yeah, dissolve the people!

After the uprising of the 17th of June
The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee
Stating that the people
Had thrown away the confidence of the government
And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier
In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?
