Other people’s Selected Reading, Stat Porn and my Holiday

This afternoon I’m off to Thailand; to Koh Chang to be exact. So Left Outside will be a little quite for the next fortnight. It’s a little unfortunate that I’m off on holiday at the moment. As this has been cross posted here and I’m not going to be able to comment or argue my corner nearly as much as I’d like.

After the rip roaring success of last month’s Statistical Onanism I thought I would try again. This time with a graph I did in Open Office’s Calc:

Stat Porn

Here is another graph WordPress did for me:

More Stat PornSadly for Carl at Raincoat Optimism it wasn’t Twitter that increased my hits. Unfortunately to get traffic you have to write about something relevant, and write it well. Something I may only have done once or twice in the last 4 months… One of my most popular posts was my post on the TPA and their Inheritance and Entrepreneurship Fail. But my post on Failing the UK Citizenship Test was sent a huge amount of traffic by Uponnothing, after it became obvious what a farcical test immigrants have to sit.

I’ve nothing else to say apart from Bon Voyagé but if you are looking for something to read then try Neil at Bleeding Heart Show‘s Selected Reading, Jim Jay’s weekly Sport’s Desk at the Daily (Maybe), Septicisle over at Obsolete has their usual selection of weekend reading, Here’s what Bob wants you to read and Charlotte Gore has a sneak preview of July’s upcoming Wikio rankings, (please let me come in the top 1000!)

See you all on the 19th August!

  1. I see that this month you’ve gone for week-on-week stat porn.

I believe that, in the parlance of The Wire, that is known as jukeing the stats.

    ;)
